THROWBACK MONDAYS
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - GLORY DAYS
If you’ve been following my blog, you’ll know that ‘Throwback Mondays’ is dedicated to music that I grew up with, that influenced me, that left a mark on my life.
Today’s post comes with some unfortunate news. Although it’s dedicated to Bruce Springsteen, it is more importantly highlighting Clarence Cleamons.
It’s the end of an era — and another one of those life passages we’d have preferred not to have encountered quite so soon. The Big Man, Bruce Springsteen’s sidekick and onstage foil for nearly 40 years, passed away Saturday after complications from a stroke suffered last Sunday.
While Clarence Clemens was never the star of the show, something about him made Bruce bigger and the arena smaller — small enough, I recall, to make you feel like you were truly a part of the extended E-Street family.
So for today, a big shout out to The Big Man, Clarence Clemens. May you rest in peace.
THROWBACK MONDAYS is a weekly segment. It’ll consist of exactly what the title is, music that influenced me, that I grew up to. Hope you enjoy! /mdr
